Credit Usage Policies
Introduction
Thanks for choosing Gistra! Here's a quick overview of what credits are and how they're consumed.
TL;DR
What is a credit?
A credit is the unit of measurement used to track usage of Gistra. You spend credits when you perform certain actions. See the credit usage table below for a full breakdown.
What is the difference between subscription and pay-as-you-go (PAYG) credits?
Subscription credits refill to your membership level every month. They do not roll over.
PAYG credits can be bought at any time and never expire. PAYG credits will only be used for actions after your subscription credits are all used up.
What does consume a credit?
- Extracting a new transcript.
- Any AI action, for example: generating a study guide, a translation, flashcards, or a quiz.
- One AI chat completion (a full response from the LLM).
What does not consume a credit?
- Viewing or downloading anything you already saved. That includes viewing or downloading your saved transcripts and opening up a previous chat or AI generation to view or download.
- Failed AI actions or chat responses.
- Retrying a failed transcript download.
